WHAT DOES A WHEEL MOTOR KIT FOR BICYCLES CONSIST OF ?

It is possible to electrify your bike with two types of motors: the wheel motor, which can be installed in place of the original front or rear wheel, and the pedal motor, which can be installed in place of the original pedal. These two electric kits consist of different elements. We present them to you here!

COMPOSITION OF A WHEEL MOTOR KIT

The basic components of an engine wheel kit are :

The driving wheel (front or rear hub motor radiated on a rim),
The battery, to be chosen according to the desired range
The controller (electronic computer, or the kit’s brain),
The display box on the handlebars, which will show you the main data,
The pedal sensor

Optionally, you can add an accelerator and a brake cut-off.

THE DRIVE WHEEL

The driving wheel will have to be installed instead of your front or rear wheel. Depending on your bike, OZO will radiate the engine onto a suitable rim so that you receive a drive wheel perfectly compatible with your bike.
All OZO wheels are assembled by hand, by our passionate technicians in our workshop located in Aix-en-Provence. To ensure quality and reliability, our rims and spokes are made in France.
The rims are all double-walled and the spokes are made of stainless steel with a diameter of 2.3 mm.

CONTROLLER

The controller is the brain of your electric bike. It is an electronic box that receives the instructions from the pedal sensor, the display, the accelerator and the brake cuts and that controls the engine operation according to these instructions.
There are two controller formats: external or integrated to the battery holder. If you choose a frame battery, the controller will be invisible because it will be integrated into the frame battery bracket.
For all other batteries, the controller will be external. You can attach it to the frame of your bike with screws or clamps, and position it under the luggage rack..

THE BATTERY

The battery is the heart of your electric bike, and it’s also the most expensive element. The majority of electric bikes have a 36V battery. At OZO, we offer both 36V and 48V batteries. The 48V increases the power of the unit. To best choose your battery, you will need to take into account the following criteria :

THE CASE ON THE HANDLEBARS (DISPLAY)

The display is the dashboard of the electric bike. It allows you to turn the system on and off, choose the desired level of assistance and displays all electrical parameters and routes. OZO offers for each kit different models of displays with more or less features and a different ergonomics.

Compact color display : Its compact size makes it perfect for mountain biking because it is not exposed to shocks. It is positioned to the left of the handlebar and directly integrates the + / buttons, allowing you to choose from the 9 assistance modes offered.

Vertical color display : With this display, you have access to the very best on the VAE market. This model displays a maximum of electrical settings and routes, 9 modes of assistance and has a self-adaptive backlight depending on the brightness and a USB port for charging a smartphone or GPS while driving. Remote selector to the left of the handlebars for better ergonomics.

THE PEDAL SENSOR

The pedal sensor allows you to activate pedaling assistance. As soon as you pedal, the engine starts; when you stop pedaling, the engine stops. In order to be compatible with all standards of bottom brackets, OZO has different geometries of bottom bracket sensors. On your end, no worries.
